Last salam to APJ Abdul Kalam
It was Monday, 27th July, evening time. I was in prayer room at home singing in a low-voice my daily prayer song almost completed. My son Puneet was in outside sit- out working in his lap-top, catching his cell-phone in his left-hand reading the message "Mom Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was collapsed while delivering a lecture in IIM Shillong" it seems friends are sending the message- he said. I was stunned. Within a few minutes he again uttered "Mom Dr Abdul Kalam passed away" it seems. Really it was a shocking news.
I loved to read the books written by Abdul Kalam. My daughter Pooja made a mini library at home. She has a large collection of books, that includes the books written by Abdul Kalam.
When I went Bangalore to my sister's house my nephew Amrit had given me a book and had told me" see aunty you can make use of this book as you are in teaching line". The book he gave me was "Wings of Fire" written by Abdul Kalam that depicts Kalam's inspiring life story.
That time I was teaching PU students. I had kept that book in my book locker in staff-room and read it during free period whenever I found time, quoted his inspiring sayings, quatations incidentally in my classes.

In this way Dr. Kalam has inspired millions. I read Dr. Kalam loved his students at the most. Truly his end came when he was in the midst of students. That's what he dreamed and his dream has come true.
In the last week of August a parent had come to me to seek my help. He wanted a speech for his daughter studying in 10th std. about the Role of our former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in Nation Building. I could n't reject his plea.
To prepare speech I sat day and night, collected a lot of details, information from different sources -collecting, deleting, editing and finally prepared a speech rather a good and interesting one.
That time I really came to know about Dr. Abdul Kalam -his early childhood, as a missile man ,as the President- his contributions to India's Space and Defence Programs. My effort was not in vain as I came to know later that the girl bagged 1st prize in Speech Competition. Of course , it's a different matter.
But I felt extremely happy as I read many books, news-papers and journals while preparing speech that made me to know the fascinating facts and interesting rare stories about Abdul Kalam that raised the respect I had for this legend. I end up with a big salam to Dr. Abdul Kalam.
